NHL best bets: Three totals to take on Monday 3/27

As we begin a new week in the NHL, we turn our attention to some team totals and game overs in what is an incredibly inviting Monday slate. Rather than pinpoint the players who are involved, we'll sit back and cheer on the puck going in the net over and over again. Feel free to read why we like what we like and load up some of their lines straight. We're opting for a more conservative approach for the most part, which you'll see now.

Montreal over 2.5 goals, including OT & FLA-OTT over 5.5 goals (+115 DK)

I love Montreal to score tonight. They're averaging 3.6 goals per game on the road over the last 10 and have been an extremely able offense of late, scoring 3+ goals in nine of their last 11 games. The Buffalo defense and goaltending has been a serious problem. In their past 10 at home, the Sabres are allowing 5.1 goals per game.

So here we are, needing only three, and we tack on a nice power-play edge too that should give the Canadiens plenty of chances to find the back of the net. With Tage Thompson out tonight, all the more reason to expect Montreal to possess the puck and get off quality looks.

We'll pair their team total with an extremely watered down total in the Florida-Ottawa game. I think it's almost unnecessary to move this total down so much from its listed price at 7, but I'm doing it all the same.

There's plenty of reason to expect goals. First, the averages. Ottawa is scoring nearly five goals per game at home over the last 10 while Florida is seeing 4.1 scored against them on the road. That is most definitely a nice intersection. The Panthers tend to get their own goals regularly as well, averaging 3.8 per game on the road over the past 10.

These two teams played to an eight goal affair in their first meeting and have exceeded 5.5 in six of their last eight.

Arizona over 2.5 goals in regulation (-118 FD)

Similarly to Montreal, I'm quite surprised at how reasonable Arizona's team total is, and it's actually playable straight which I will gladly do.

Believe it or not, the Coyotes have been feisty lately. Arizona has scored 3+ goals in nine of their last 12, and have averaged 3.8 goals per game at home across their past 10 games. Edmonton is an ideal target for the Coyotes to continue this goal-scoring success, as the Oilers are allowing 4.5 goals per game on the road and sport a below-average penalty kill that should yield the Coyotes some PP chances.

Arizona scored three against Edmonton just five days ago, and I like them to reach this number once again.

Colorado over 3.5 goals, including OT & EDM-ARI over 6.5 goals (+144 DK)

Let's start back with this Edmonton-Arizona total, as I'm slightly double-dipping on the belief that goals are coming. Four straight meetings between these two teams has reached seven or more, and seeing as Edmonton is averaging 4.6 goals per game of their own on the road, they should have no issue chipping in some scores here.

We'll pair a slightly watered down version of their game total with the Avalanche going over 3.5 goals against the Ducks. Anaheim is certainly an ideal target for such things, continuously getting peppered by shots and letting in goals. Colorado has turned it on big time of late as they near the home stretch, averaging 4.2 goals per game on the road in their past 10 games. The Avalanche are just one point back from the Wild for the top spot in the division, and I expect them to be well-motivated here to dispatch of the lowly Ducks.
