Miami Marlins Roster Moves 4/17

The Miami Marlins are wrapping up their three-game series against the San Francisco Giants this afternoon. They dropped the first game 4-3 and won the middle game last night 6-3 behind a solid starting pitching effort from Ryan Weathers who went six innings giving up two runs on five hits; he didn’t walk anyone and struck out ten. Luis Arraez and Josh Bell each had two hits in the win with Arraez driving in two runs as well. Today the Marlins will have Trevor Rogers going up against Keaton Winn. Before first pitch today they made the following roster moves:

RHP Declan Cronin Recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville

Marlins Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Declan Cronin

Cronin was drafted in the 36^th round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA by the Chicago White Sox. He made his big-league debut last season for the White Sox on July 30 going two innings giving up two runs on one hit; he walked one and didn’t record a strikeout. He finished the season playing in nine games going 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA, a 7.80 FIP, a 1.63 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 11 innings. He was selected off waivers by the Houston Astros on January 4^th before ultimately being selected off waivers by the Marlins on February 7^th. This spring in nine games he went 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 10.2 innings. He started the season with the team making two appearances going 0-1 with a 0.00 ERA, a 3.50 FIP, a 1.50 WHIP, and four strikeouts in four innings. At Jacksonville, he’s appeared in three games going 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA, a 2.07 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

RHP – George Soriano

Soriano was signed as an International Free Agent by the Marlins on August 19, 2015. He made his big-league debut last season on April 16^th going three innings, he didn’t allow a run on one hit; he didn’t walk anyone and struck out two. He finished the season making 26 appearances with one of those coming as a start going 0-0 with a 3.81 ERA, a 4.37 FIP, a 1.32 WHIP, and 52 strikeouts in 52 innings. He also made one appearance in the playoffs going one inning, he didn’t allow a run, a hit, or a walk and he struck out one. This spring he made seven appearances going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, a 0.41 WHIP, and ten strikeouts in 9.2 innings. This season he’s appeared in eight games going 0-1 with a 10.29 ERA, a 7.68 FIP, a 1.85 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in seven innings.
